Mark gave me an impromptu reading. It blew me away. There were external signs which called for the spontaneous reading followed by visits from my paternal grandfather, grandmother, and recently passed aunt (closest to me). He not only described what they looked like but also the invaluable symbols/ skills that tied me to them and WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE. (He knew nothing about them before this!) I’ve never met anyone more knowledgeable about comics history or comics scholarship. In early 2022, I had the distinct pleasure of talking to him about how he had uncovered that the character Wing was the first Asian American superhero. Shortly thereafter, he asked me to moderate a panel he was organizing for San Diego Comic-Con. I jumped at the opportunity. Mark was incredibly helpful and transparent about everything that was needed, and he even took care of some of the technical requirements since two of our panelists were remote. Mark was an engaging speaker, full of humor and insight. He shared a great deal about how he uses comics in the classroom and helped members of the audience understand how they can do the same. This was the smoothest, friendliest, most knowledgeable, and most engaged panel I could have hoped for!

Mark offered me a reading as a result of a TikTok interaction. We didn't know where we were going, whether this would be a tarot reading, or mediumship style of reading, and he managed to combine both in the time that we had. I gained some insight into a current life situation, he asked hard questions and gave difficult (but needed and helpful) answers.

Mark also relayed some ridiculous accuracy with departed family that came through. While I didn't get the depth of messages I may have thought I wanted, I did get the sensations from them that perhaps I was mentally able to hear at this time. Anything further would probably have exceeded my current bandwidth to process, if that makes sense, so it ended up being perfect.
